FDN Conference 2020!

This week and weekend has been a whirlwind of education and moderating at the FDN Virtual Livestream Conference in San Diego, CA.

I’ve spent the last few days learning from Dr. Terry Wahls, Dr. Carrie Jones, Dr. Nasha Winters, Dr. Kiran Krishnan, and more. Our team was behind the scenes, moderating 8 Zoom rooms, introducing speakers, fielding questions, and solving tech issues.

It was incredible to connect with my colleagues all over the world. I had conversations with FDNs from South Africa, Barbados, India, and Panama.

I wish I had more time to write to you, but I’m typing these notes from a hotel room at 9:48 pm Saturday night.

Suffice it to say, the field of functional nutrition is as fascinating as ever to me, and I’m so thankful to be part of it. My blogs in the near future will share some of the fantastic information I’ve been learning this week.

Never stop learning, my friends.

One of my favorite speakers, Dr. Kiran Krishnan, runs the teaching and research division at Mircrobiome Labs. His talk was on gut health and immunity. If the gut is not healthy, the immune system will not be healthy. This is important as we head into another virus season. I take one of two probiotics, depending on the season and if my labs say I need them or not.

I just ran a NutrEval on myself to look for key deficiencies in my body and found the following:\

Whew- you can see my gut is in need again of another few rounds of an excellent probiotic. I have gone to MegaSporeBiotic from Microbiome Labs for myself ever since it came out since it is a spore based probiotic and survives the harsh environment of the stomach. You want your probiotics to make it to the small intestine.

Think about this- if you're taking a refrigerated probiotic, and you swallow that probiotic, what do you think happens to the good bacteria? They usually die as soon as they heat up to a good ol' 98.6 degrees. Spores are the way to go.

You can grab some here and try for yourself. Give it a month and see if your digestion and immunity isn't markedly improved. Kids and animals can take MegaSpore, too. Start with 1 capsule, once per day, with or without food.
